We’re Tina & Michael – and we check in.
To us, a hotel is more than just a place to sleep for the night. It can become part of the journey itself – an experience, a surprise, sometimes in a good way, and sometimes less so.
eingecheckt.com
We are Tina and Michael, and we love to travel. Over the years, we have stayed in all kinds of hotels: from small, lovingly run properties to modern business hotels, from spontaneous weekend breaks to carefully chosen places for a few special days away.
At some point, we realised that we had started paying closer attention.
What is the first impression when you walk into a hotel? Do you feel welcome? How comfortable is the bed really? Does the room look as good as it did in the photos? What is breakfast like? Do all the small things that make a stay enjoyable actually work? And most importantly: Would we choose to check in here again?
That is exactly how eingecheckt.com came about.
No glossy brochures. Real impressions.
We want to show hotels as we actually experience them.
Of course, we are interested in beautiful rooms, distinctive design and unusual concepts. But service, cleanliness, comfort, location, breakfast, facilities and the overall feeling a hotel leaves behind matter just as much to us.
Our aim is not to go looking for faults with a raised eyebrow. A small family-run hotel cannot and should not be judged by exactly the same standards as an international five-star property.
What we really want to find out is:
What does a hotel promise – and what does the guest actually get?
Our reviews are intended to be honest, easy to understand and genuinely useful. They include our personal impressions, our own photographs and the details that are often missing from traditional booking platforms.
Two people. Two perspectives.
And that is exactly what makes eingecheckt.com special to us.
We do not always experience a hotel stay in the same way.
Something one of us loves may leave the other more critical. While one of us might pay particular attention to interiors, atmosphere and small details, the other may notice practical aspects, service or comfort more strongly.
We deliberately want to keep these different perspectives.
Because in the end, we do not want to produce another interchangeable hotel description. We want to create as realistic a picture as possible of what a stay actually feels like.
Small hotels can be just as interesting as big names
We are not only interested in well-known hotel chains, luxury resorts or properties that everyone has already heard of.
Quite the opposite.
We are especially interested in hotels, hosts and new concepts that may not yet be on everyone’s radar: small boutique hotels, unusual places to stay, new openings, family-run properties and people who have created something special from a good idea.
That is why we also want to use eingecheckt.com to give newcomers and lesser-known hotels a platform.
A large marketing budget is not a sign of quality to us.
A good story, genuine hospitality and a stay you remember fondly, on the other hand, certainly are.
We remain independent – even when we are invited
eingecheckt.com will feature both hotels we visit entirely as regular paying guests and stays that may come about through an invitation or editorial partnership.
Any such cooperation will always be clearly disclosed.
An invitation, however, does not automatically mean a positive review.
Hotels that work with us do not receive a pre-written promotional piece. They receive our genuine impressions of the stay.
Because in the long term, a hotel magazine can only work on one thing:
Trust.
The trust of our readers, as well as the trust of the hotels we write about.
Our aim
With eingecheckt.com, we want to gradually create a place where people can discover new hotels, find inspiration for their next trip and learn a little more before booking than just the room size, star rating and check-in time.
And perhaps, along the way, we will also discover the occasional hotel that our readers might never have found without us.
We certainly still have a very long list of places where we would like to check in.
